Apart from you may get an IP from your DSL router using DHCP - DSL itself
is PPP and gets IP addresses using the PPP LCP, there is no DHCP involved.
Which usually means that if the PPP link does have to be brought back up
and you're on a dynamic provider, you will 99.9% of the time get a
different IP.
There have been discussions of PlusNet in this thread, before anyone even
slightly considers them, look through dejanews for posts from the MD "Lee
Strafford" - usually being ripped apart for being clueless and trying to
either "apologise" for or defending hosting spammers or some other really
stupid no-brainer.
There's a famous thread involving Lee Strafford and either Clive Feather
or Malcolm Muir where he really does dig a very deep hole - can't place it
at the moment though.
I know a number of people of people who actually live in Sheffield, they
wouldn't even slightly consider working for Plusnet, they'd rather commute
out, it has that bad a reputation as an employer and ISP.
Though a friend in Sheffield did actually go for an interview there once,
as a sort of joke, they spent the first half hour ripping the piss out of
the company he was working for - hmmmm, professional.
