Correct. It's the cable providers that use DHCP.

Yep. Again, the cableco's use DHCP, and I think I maintained the same
'dynamic' IP for about 18 months at one point when I was with NTL.

Errr.... yes, Lee did seem to be posting on Usenet about 6 or 7 years
ago. I've not read the posts in detail. How does that help Anne?

Yes, I work for them, but I also happen to think they're a pretty damn
good DSL provider, and so do the customers according to the uswitch
survey last week. At the end of the day, I've got nothing to gain from
recommending them to Anne, staff are excluded from the referrals scheme.

Let me know when you do.

That's odd, because I do a 70 mile round trip into work in Sheffield for
PN. Everyone wants different things from their job, each to his own I
guess, I've always found them pretty decent if you're prepared to pull
your weight. That's not going to help Anne find a new ISP though, is it?

You've had a go at Plusnet a few times in the past, Gareth, but not
really managed to come up with any substantial criticism. Have you been
a customer in the past? If you were, what made you leave? Perhaps your
own experiences might help Anne decide.
