Better for what?  Personally my main complaint with OpenOffice is that
it's _too_ like Microsoft Office, which I think is a terrible
application.  But I appreciate other people have different criteria!

I generally try to use AbiWord (word processing) and Gnumeric
(spreadsheet and graphs).  They seem a bit leaner than OpenOffice.
