My HP7180 is wifi-connected, and that too has no problem with Linux.  I've not 
found anything that doesn't work, except that I haven't tried using the built-
in scan-to-computer, as I can't imagine how it would know which computer on 
the LAN to send the output to :-)  I can confirm, though, that, using the 
wireless connection, I can scan from the GIMP.
