[Wylug-help] Input/output error when trying to read an audio CD

Hi

I'm running Debian unstable, with a 2.4.20 kernel. I have an LG
DVD-ROM drive (ATAPI IDE). Reading data CDs works fine, but when I
try to read an audio CD, either with "head /dev/cdrom" or with grip, I
get:

head: error reading `/dev/cdrom': Input/output error

/dev/cdrom is correctly linked to /dev/hdb, which according to
/var/log/dmesg is the DVD drive, as expected.

I have the following modules loaded:

Module Size Used by Not tainted
ide-cd 26660 0 (autoclean)
cdrom 26848 0 (autoclean) [ide-cd]
smbfs 31952 3 (autoclean)
sb 7348 2
sb_lib 32142 0 [sb]
uart401 6020 0 [sb_lib]
sound 52044 2 [sb_lib uart401]
isa-pnp 27844 0 [sb]
soundcore 3460 5 (autoclean) [sb_lib sound]

Any hints/suggestions?

Thanks,

Felix.
