Yes, providing error messages and relevant configs is generally expected
in the world of Unix and Linux help.

People can't help you if you don't provide the technical clues
about what may be going wrong.

Apart from the error messages, the following would be helpful:

1. Your X server config file (usually something like
   /etc/X11/XF86Config or /etc/X11/XF86Config-4)

2. Specs for your graphics card and monitor, especially the resolution
   and the monitor's vertical and horizontal refresh rates capabilities.
