Hi, Garry. The problem is not about booting from cdrom. However, it
seems that some of the old boards must handle cdroms in a different way
from later ones. I have two old boxes here, both of which started out
with me, did a second term of service with another family menber, and
are now returned to me. They have very different specs, but I suspect
they have both the same problem here. The older one, a P200 box, has
actually shown some problems under windows. For instance, it has
reliably read commercial cds, except for one quite recent one, but will
not read home recorded cds.

I don't think there is a solution to this - I think it is a fact of life
with these boards. I am in two minds now. I could try a floppy image
install, but I have to wonder if it is worth it. A bad demo of what
linux can do is not a bright idea.
