Below is the output of fstab command, in full this time. Each variation
of mount /dev/hd?* /mnt/hd?* throws up a "help" page with a list of
commands. mount /mnt/hd?* on its own gives mount: can't find /mnt/hd?*
in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab, where ? = a or b in turn, so I can't mount
them so I can't list them. Or should that simply be I don't now how to?

> proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
> /dev/hdb1 / ext3 defaults,errors=remount-ro 0 1
> /dev/hdb5 none swap sw 0 0
> /dev/hdd /media/cdrom0 iso9660 ro,user,noauto 0 0
> /dev/fd0 /media/floppy0 auto rw,user,noauto 0 0

That looks to me as though the installation has entered hdb into fstab so I'm at a loss to understand why the mount command won't work on that one.

Also, I don't know what I should enter into fstab to reflect the configuration of hda. Same as for hdb?

Where next, please?
