This might sound like a stupid question, but why are you exporting to
HTML rather than as a PDF?  PDF will give you a single file which will
preserve the appearance exactly, as well as being searchable,
printable, and being viewable on any system exactly as you intended.

I have used the HTML export option in the past and been as
disappointed as yourself, but I've used PDF only for the last few
years and been very happy.  Looking back, I'm not quite sure what
reasons I wanted HTML for in the first place!
