I've not really been following this, but I could turn up if needed -
I'm a CACert assurer so could handle CACert assurances - I can give
up to 35 points (to make this useful for people who have not done
the process before we would need another assurer with reasonably
high score - this becomes useful to the recipient when they can get
to 50 points which allows you to get named certificates issued).
For those not aware, CACert is a free certificate authority. SSL
Certificates are issued to people based on the trust level they
have been assigned. Trust is done through a PGP like web-of-trust
using the assurance process - basically a face to face meeting and
checking of documents in a similar way to PGP keysigning checks.
More detail can be found at
http://cacert.org/

Unfortunately the documentation is not particularly well laid out
right now.
If it would be useful for me to turn up to do some assurances (or PGP
keysigning for that matter), then let me know.
Nigel.
