Hi Julian,
Thanks for sharing your experiences on app version updating outside the
distro norm. This confirms my decision to leave Clamav as fedora wants
it, at least for now, and think about updating fedora in the near future
to get more up to date versions of most apps. 

So, how do you decide when to update your distro version? I started with
Mandrake 10.1 and went to Fedora core 3 when Mandrake became Mandriva.
Then I updated to Fedora core 5 when it got a good review in LXF and
they brought out a special with discs. There is a certain amount of work
to updating and lots more with a change of distro, so I need to time
things for when I have spare time available.
