You're not in the right group....

To add yourself to the correct group, you can either use one of the  
user-management tools or (my preferred way), start a console (ALT+F2  
and tyrpe "xterm" will do it) and type the following:

vigr

move down the file until you find the line that starts "vboxusers" and  
add your username to the very end of that line (If it won't let you  
type any text, try pressing "i", then typing).

Repeat the above with the following command:

vigr -s

You will then need to log out completely (although you do not need to  
restart the computer) and log back in again before the settings will  
take effect.
