[HLUG] open office and java

I ran update manager yesterday on my main pc (ubuntu 10.04) yesterday
and it updated the java as follows

icedtea-6-jre-cacao (6b18-1.8.2-4ubuntu2) to 6b20-1.9.2-0ubuntu1~10.04.1
openjdk-6-jre (6b18-1.8.2-4ubuntu2) to 6b20-1.9.2-0ubuntu1~10.04.1
openjdk-6-jre-headless (6b18-1.8.2-4ubuntu2) to
6b20-1.9.2-0ubuntu1~10.04.1
openjdk-6-jre-lib (6b18-1.8.2-4ubuntu2) to 6b20-1.9.2-0ubuntu1~10.04.1

this morning I found my main open office Base database is running
painfully slowly so i assume it was the java update that did it
is there any way i can check?
 - I do not know how to revert the java to the previous version or if
that would be sensible
any ideas?
